EDUCATION and NURTURING

Sunday School is in session weekly from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. with graded classes for children and youth and several adult classes. Mid-week Bible studies, small groups, and seasonal programs are offered throughout the year for those looking for opportunities to build friendships and grow as disciples of Christ.

A Confirmation Class is offered for older youth, serving as an overview of the basics of our faith, church, and Christian life as they consider professing faith and joining the church.

Kids’ Connection is a midweek children's ministry for children, 4 years old through 5th grade, to experience Bible discovery, music, art, and recreation that meets  after school on Wednesdays (Jan-March). Children explore connecting to the Christian faith and build Christian relationships with adults and peers.

Vacation Bible School is offered one week during the summer in the mornings for children 3 years old through 5th grade. VBS is a fun, camp-like experience to enrich each child’s understanding of faith and Christian discipleship.

Youth Group (6th - 12th grade) normally meets Sunday evenings from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., but will meet other times instead for special events. Youth group includes activities of service, fellowship, food, worship, and learning.

MISSION and SERVICE

In keeping with Christ's teaching, we reach beyond our own to support a variety of ministries to our community and the world.

Olivet uses a Time and Talent Survey to enable members of the community to share their gifts in ministry to others. Similarly, we encourage a faithful stewardship of our financial resources through pledging that permits our ministry in this community and around the world.

As a congregation, we are directly involved in serving dinner at the Salvation Army on the last Tuesday of each month.

We also build a house each year through Habitat for Humanity, support missionaries, participate in hunger relief activities, meet local emergency needs, and organize summer youth and congregational mission trips.

The senior-high youth traditionally participate in a mission trip to build houses in Mexico every other year.

FELLOWSHIP

A fellowship time is held after the 8:30 & 9:45 a.m. worship services each Sunday.   On the last Sunday of each month, a coffee/cookie fellowship is held in the Fellowship Hall following the 11:00 worship service.

Olivet organizes several yearly gatherings such as the annual Christmas Pageant and Dinner, a spring barbeque called Olivet Day, and an end of the year summer picnic.

Church Family Nights meet each fall and during Lent on Wednesday evenings for a shared meal, adult study and children mission activities. A chime class for adults and youth is offered in the fall.

The women of the church gather together several times during the year and meet in three (3) smaller circles each month.

The men of the church share breakfast together on the 1st Friday of each month at 7:00 a.m.

Programs for middle- and high-school aged youth include regular fellowship gatherings on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and the following annual events: December Washington mission trip, January ski trip, February talent show, March youth retreat, and summer canoeing and camping trips.

WORSHIP

The worship of God is at the heart of our lives as Christians.  In worship, we offer praise and honor to God, are transformed and renewed as Gods children, and are empowered for Gods service in the world.  Each Sunday Olivet offers the following services:

8:30 a.m. Contemporary Service in Fellowship Hall
9:45 a.m. Chapel Service and 11:00 a.m. Traditional Service in Sanctuary

Music is an essential element to our worship of God.  In addition to congregational singing, special music is provided by the Chancel Choir (11:00), 8:30 music team, soloists and instrumental meditations (9:45), and children and youth.

Children's bulletins are available for worship. During the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services a brief children's sermon is offered, and children through 3rd grade may leave with adult leaders to attend Worship Alive for age appropriate Bible stories and activities.

A nursery is available for all worship services for children 4 years old and younger.
